[ The thing is, Dice is very easy to read. So-- he has a suspicion about what he wants to ask. It's impossible to ignore the heat that's been building between them.
It's actually kind of cute, how flustered and tongue-tied he is. Gentaro hums softly, playing with his hair before he rolls Dice onto his back and hovers above him.
Leaning down, he touches their foreheads together. ]
You are safe with me. I know it is difficult for you, but I will never judge you for anything you desire.
[The pathetic thing is it's not like he's never thought about or done it before. Obviously. But he's so hesitant to put things into words that might undo the beautiful spell on them cast by Gentaro's generous affection and Dice's cautiously offered vulnerability.
He's on his back before he knows it, eyes widening, cheeks looking a touch pink even under the dim light of the moon. Then Gentaro is close, and Dice closes his eyes, steeling himself as his voice comes out in little more than a murmur.]
I desire you. [A sigh.] So when the time is right... I want to be with you physically, as well.
[Yeah, king of romance he was not. But frankly it's not his fault. Blame everyone who tiptoed around it and made it a utility.]
You know, in stories I read, in books... it always seemed so magical, so beautiful. Yet I've never experienced it that way at all, though I did try.
[ So his suspicions were correct. Actually hearing it... that's much different. Gentaro's breath catches softly, nearly overwhelmed by what Dice tells him.
He loves him. He loves him so, so much. Gentaro wants to drown him in pleasure and love, to show Dice what he deserves. His hands find his, and he interwines their fingers.
He presses a soft kiss to his lips, and when he speaks, his voice is just a touch lower, rougher. ]
Then, let's write our own fairy tale. When the time comes, when you are ready, I will make sure you never forget what it feels like to be loved so thoroughly.
[ He squeezes his hand gently, gazing into his eyes like Dice is the only person that matters. ]
I will follow your lead, so when you decided the right time, I will gladly show you how much I desire you.
[Dice's face is burning, but he doesn't want to look away. Gentaro is generously giving him the courage to face things he never thought possible. He won't turn his nose up at that, or take it for granted. The way Gentaro looks and sounds right now is doing dangerous things to poor Dice.]
Me?
[Smooth answer. So smooth. Like he's not the guy Gentaro has pinned to the secluded little forest floor.]
[ He says it so easily, too. It makes his heart ache that Dice is struck by disbelief, because as far as Gentaro is concerned, anyone would be lucky to have him.
He's beautiful, kind, charming, thoughtful-- Gentaro could go on and on, but he doesn't. Not yet. ]
Why do you think I enjoy kissing you so much?
[ And to emphasize that, he kisses him again, this time with just the barest touch of heat. ]
[Dice makes a muffled little sound of surprise at the kiss, though he knows he shouldn't be shocked. It's less disbelief that someone could possibly find him that attractive and more disbelief at Gentaro's enthusiasm, and how utterly convinced he is.
Dice wraps his arms around Gentaro, then slides his hands into his lover's hair. He still worries that this is a dream, or that something will come between them, but that's a lingering fear built on the back of his betrayal only a handful of days ago. He'll have this fear for a while. He'll wake and cling to Gentaro in the small hours of the morning, he'll stare at him for sleepless hours every night.
But he'll also be loved by him, indescribably beautifully.
So he kisses him back as if to invite more, parting his lips and hooking a leg around one of Gentaro's.]
Is it wrong that I want your lips to grace every inch of my skin?
[ Dice allowing him in like this is magical, even in the wake of betrayal. Here they are, underneath a blanket of stars, wrapped up in each other. Gentaro can't imagine a more wonderful moment. He's already so affected by Dice and how he feels that when he parts his lips and wraps his leg around him and says that--
Gentaro groans softly and grips the back of his thigh. Tentatively, he rolls his hips against Dice, and even this feels so, so good. ]
Is that so? [ he murmurs, running his tongue along his bottom lip. It doesn't last long, though; Gentaro trails kisses along his jaw, down to his neck, kissing right over his pulse. ] I would very much like to indulge you, since you're so eager.
[ That eagerness is beautiful, and even if Gentaro could resist, he wouldn't. ]
[He doesn't expect the vocal reaction nor the rolling of hips, and it shows in the way his entire body shivers. He opens his mouth to speak, but he can't get anything out with Gentaro kissing him like that. It wasn't as though he expected the man to go through with it suddenly!
Not that he hates it. Not that he dislikes it in the least. He likes feeling like Gentaro has him pinned, like he's being commanded and kept. It feels safe with Gentaro.
Carefully, he composes himself, eyes closing so he can focus on how this feels. Then he presses his hips against Gentaro's gently, but firmly. Carefully. When he speaks, it's strained and quiet, but not afraid.]
[ Against his neck, Gentaro laughs, low and husky. ]
Mm, you figured me out. [ He brushes a line of kisses along his jaw to his ear, and he breathes hotly into it. ] I will have to reward you.
[ But he pulls back, and it takes everything in him to not rock more firmly against Dice, to match the movement of his hips. He needs to know for sure, because if there's any hesitation... Well. Either way, he cups his cheek, looking at him seriously. ]
But I want to make absolutely certain that you want this. If you think we're moving too fast, I will respect that.
[Dice is silent for a moment. He doesn't know if they're moving too fast. What's too fast? What did he expect when he let Gentaro go down this path? He would hate more than anything to deny Gentaro, or to make him feel like he's done something wrong. Dice opened this door, and he should have expected a fiery soul like Gentaro to go right through.
But something is off, no matter how badly he wants him, no matter how romantic it would be to do this out under the stars that have witnessed so much of their friendship so far.
He looks up at him, eyes wide, as if he's afraid this is the wrong answer.]
...There's no question that I want it. I want you so badly I hardly know what to do with these thoughts. At the same time, I'm more than a little afraid something will go wrong. That I'll disappoint you, or... fail, somehow.
[It's enough to make his hands faintly shake as they cast over Gentaro's neck and shoulders.]
Gentaro's weak to him. He wants to burn out every single doubt he has, because Dice has already suffered so much. He cups his face in his hands, leaning down to touch their foreheads together, to gaze at him with warmth and love and acceptance. His smile more than touches his eyes, and he kisses him deeply. ]
There is nothing you could do that would disappoint or fail me. I fell in love with you, with the good and the bad parts of you. If anything goes wrong, it will not matter, because I will stop it before it happens.
[ He loves him so much it aches. ]
I want you, too, more than I have ever wanted anything. I want to show you the love and treatment you deserve, Dice. [ He brushes his thumbs against his cheeks, under his eyes. ] But not here, as romantic as it would be. We don't have the supplies required here. There will be many more nights like this, where I make love to you underneath the moon and stars.
[ He kisses him again, then stands and holds out his hand. ]
Dice instantly tears up at the thought, at the notion of having a home, and that home being with someone so remarkable, who not only is lovely, but loving. And who loves him for what he offers, expecting nothing more.
He takes Gentaro's hand, committing every last promise to memory, engraving Gentaro's care on his heart. Then he stands, and pulls Gentaro into a silent embrace, long enough and strong enough to chase off the emotions he's trying so hard not to let take him over. Today has been so full of ups and downs, and as he's been unconscious, it simply bleeds into the days before. He doesn't feel a week and a half distant from the end of his life. It's fresh. But he's safe, and he's loved, and he's going to insist Gentaro claims him once they're alone, home, and he gets his courage back.]
I love you. I do. [A sigh, and he pulls back with a watery smile.] Take me home, and take me to bed.
[ And just like that, Gentaro holds him close, because there's nothing better than being held so warmly and securely by a lover. He'd saved Dice, it's true, but right now, Gentaro knows that Dice had done the same for him. There are no words to express how grateful he is, but he supposes actions may do the trick.
He kisses Dice, a gentle and sweet thing. A smile spreads across his lips, and he wipes his tears away with a gentle hand. ]
And I love you, Dice. [ He can't hide the delicious shiver at Dice's words. Gentaro is usually patient, but hearing those words makes him incredibly impatient. ] I'll show you what those words do to me.
[ And Gentaro leads him back, to the quiet safety of their home. He doesn't let go of Dice's hand, even for a moment, and throughout the walk home, he can't help but steal kisses and toss heated glances his way. ]
[It has an effect on Dice, the glances and the kisses. He stays close by Gentaro's side, leaning on him and laughing oh so quietly, like a young person in the deepest parts of love. It's the first time in his life that he's ever been able to act freely, to be what he's always wanted to be.
What he wants to be right now is Gentaro's. So he stays near, returning the kisses with increasingly playful ones of his own, and the urge to cry in sorrow or in happiness ebbs away by the time they're back to the hideout.
Once they enter, Dice stays proudly at Gentaro's side. They may be going directly to Gentaro's chambers, but who knows when Dice's first encounter with Gentaro's men will be? He wants to be prepared. He wants no doubt in their minds that he is capable and that he'll support Gentaro through anything and everything.]
[ Nothing--aside from those precious I love yous--has ever sounded sweeter than Dice's laugh. It's as if he's come back to life and has truly started to live. Gentaro knows there will be nights when Dice wakes, gasping and shaking and sobbing while he holds him close, but for now, he's a warm, gentle, happy weight against his side.
And his laughter is contagious. Gentaro can't help laughing too, quiet and unrestrained in his happiness.
He might be a king of thieves, but Dice has stolen his heart completely.
He plans on introducing Dice formally tomorrow or the next day (because Gentaro thinks having a day just to themselves is both tempting and necessary), but tonight, as they encounter a few of the men, they stand in respect. Gentaro nods to them and squeezes Dice's hand, a quietly proud smile on his lips as they salute him.
They salute Dice, too, and Gentaro nods once more. He dismisses them, then leads Dice to his quarters and into his room. It's decorated simply, warmly, with lights turned down low and shelves upon shelves of books. He feels a certain way, having Dice in such an intimate place, but it's good.
He pulls him close to kiss him with no shortage of heat. ]
[Dice is more than a little surprised by the respect shown, not to Gentaro but to himself. He hesitates for a moment, then returns the salute, bowing his head in gratitude after. Maybe he will have a place here.
It fills him with cautious optimism, as they make their way to Gentaro's rooms. The deeper they go, the more that cautious optimism is replaced with curiosity and elation. This is his home now, and while it's nothing like the palace, it suits Gentaro and his men in ways Dice only half knows. The dim lighting is relaxing and as inviting as the sunset was. Maybe he's still recovering, because a wave of exhaustion threatens his eyelids the moment they're in Gentaro's room.
Then he's pulled into a kiss, and the tiredness is forgotten entirely, in favor of winding his arms around Gentaro and making soft, increasingly needy sounds against his lips.]
[ This could easily be his undoing. Gentaro is very aware that he's wrapped around Dice's fingers, because those needy sounds drive him nearly out of his mind. Warmth curls in his stomach, and Gentaro carefully walks him back to the bed.
He wants to take him apart thoroughly, but he has enough restraint to take his time. He's still kissing Dice, but he very gently nips at his bottom lip before he pulls away. Gentaro pulls back reluctantly, but... it's going to be much more enjoyable if there are no clothes in the way.
He does away with his tunic and the undershirt. While he's lean, it's plenty obvious that there is no shortage of strength in his arms, his shoulders, all finely sculpted muscles. There are scars, of course, a map of raised lines and a history of struggle and danger written on his skin.
He kisses Dice again, running hand through his hair. ]
[When Dice said Gentaro was beautiful, he didn't even take the time to think about anything beneath his clothing. Perhaps that shows in the way he stares at Gentaro now, not with revulsion, but admiration and adoration. He's strong--stronger than Dice, who only knows what he must of swordplay, and who hadn't been touched by severe injury until recently--and Dice can't help running reverent fingers over every line and curve. He kisses Gentaro more gently, but with simmering heat that threatens to boil over as he kisses lower, across his shoulders and chest.
If he knew what he was doing, he'd drop to his knees to worship every inch of Gentaro's body. He's still clothed, hesitant to show the scars and wounds he carries from the attack. Gentaro might well have to peel Dice's clothing off himself.]
[ Dice's lips trace fire along his skin, and Gentaro's breath hitches sharply at the kiss to his lips, his shoulders, his chest. Eyes half-lidded, he places a hand beneath his chin and guides him to look up. ]
Flattery will get you everywhere.
[ His voice is low, rougher, just like earlier.
He's not stupid, though. Gentaro knows he must feel self-conscious. He understands. All the same, he tugs at Dice's tunic. ]
As beautiful as this color is on you, I want to see what is underneath. [ He trails his hands down to the hem. He kisses him with that same simmering heat, running his tongue along Dice's bottom lip. ] May I?
[Dice looks up when his chin is raised, long lashes fluttering. He can't help smiling at Gentaro, at this man who loves him certainly more than he deserves.
The heat returns to his lips, that kiss burning his unease away. There's still part of him that knows he's going to ruin this, that he'll fail or fumble compared to Gentaro, but he's trying so, so hard not to care about it.
In response to the question, he nods slowly. He's scarred now, and they're fresh; he also doesn't have nearly the tone and muscle that Gentaro does. But if this man loves him, he can see more. That's Dice's gift to thank him for everything: courage to be seen.]
[ If only Dice knew that everything he does affects Gentaro deeply. His smile is one he can't stop, and if he could, he wouldn't. There are more than enough smiles for Dice. ]
Thank you, [ he murmurs softly, kissing him again. It lingers for a few moments, and it takes all of Gentaro's effort to pull away. He could spend all night kissing Dice, but there are other things he'd like to do tonight.
Carefully, he slips Dice's tunic off. Before, when he tended to his wounds, the only thing on his mind had been saving him. His concern had blotted out everything else, and he's well aware the Dice has more scars now. Even so, the moment he tosses the tunic aside and takes him in, he swallows hard. ]
You're beautiful, Dice, [ he says softly, awed, as he trails gentle fingers along his shoulders, his chest, his stomach. He doesn't avoid the scars, but his touch there is even gentler. Why should he avoid them? Dice's scars don't define him. ] I may never stop touching or looking at you.
[He never wants to stop kissing Gentaro. He would almost be happy to forget the rest of the world and his own wellbeing to keep kissing him, day in and day out.
But there's a time for that, and now seems to not be that. Now is the dreadful moment of being revealed. Logically, he knows Gentaro has seen his bared torso before, when his wounds were being tended to. This is so exposed that it makes him want to shy away, to hide. He's never been called beautiful, at least not without waves of condescension following. He's never been looked at with hunger and desire.
Every place Gentaro touches feels as hot as the sun in summer. It makes Dice's knees weak, so suddenly that he actually loses his balance and ends up falling down to sit on the bed. He looks up with wide eyes, already wondering if this is the error that will make Gentaro change his mind, call him weak and naive... but all he sees as he looks at him is geniune affection.
[ How can he resist that? Gentaro smiles and presses a kiss to his shoulder. He has to lean down somewhat, since Dice has quite literally fallen for him, but it's incredibly flattering. ]
You're beautiful. Everything about you is stunning, from your eyes to your soul and body and heart.
[ He will tell him every day, every moment he can, because Dice should hear it again and again. He places a finger underneath his chin, tipping his face up so he can kiss him. For a few long, lingering moments, he kisses him, hands roaming along his shoulders and back and chest. ]
I believe we can get a bit more comfortable, hm?
[ He picks Dice up, holding him close before laying him down properly on the bed. He's quick to follow, just slightly pressing his hips against Dice's. ]
If anything is too overwhelming, let me know immediately. Your comfort is the most important thing to me.
[This isn't fair. He's too incredible, far too desirable, too hot for Dice's brain to process as the kisses continue. He isn't judged for falling. Gentaro just repeats what he said, and more. More, more kissing, touching, things he's always wanted to find enjoyable but never cared for before, all transformed under Gentaro's scorching affection.
He doesn't even protest being lifted into Gentaro's arms, though he only has a few moments to let his arms linger around Gentaro's shoulders before he's lovingly laid down and Gentaro is on top of him.]
It's... it's already too much, but I don't want you to stop.
[Maybe the intertwining fear and elation in Dice's chest are making him curious about continuing. The part of him that's mired in his past is the part of him that wants to stop, but the overwhelming portion of his heart that wants to be Gentaro's, that wants to feel physical affection to overwrite all the scars isn't going to let him back down.]
[ His expression softens, and he kisses him deeply. Dice trusts him. He's known that on some level, but this-- this is the purest expression of trust and love. He rocks his hips against his just once before pressing a kiss to his neck. ]
Mmm. Good. You are more precious to me than the finest jewels, Dice. [ He kisses his neck again, then again, trailing them up to his ear. ] As you wish, then... I'll overwhelm you even more.
[ He wants to hear more of those sounds and feel Dice's touch everywhere. Gentaro's much better at appearing unaffected, if it weren't for the pretty flush across his cheeks and how hard he is, just from this.
He wants Dice so badly, but making sure Dice knows what it's like to be loved thoroughly and completely overrides his own desire to please himself. He rolls his hips against Dice's and sets a steady, easy rhythm, shivering against him. ]
Don't hold back, Dice. I want to hear more of those lovely sounds.

He swallows, mouth going dry.]
...Tell me again.

Don't worry, really. I want this. I want you.

Mmm.
